Confirmation

While Baptism is the gateway to all the other Sacraments, the Sacrament of Confirmation deepens our baptismal life with the strength of the Holy Spirit.

Confirmation and First Communion are celebrated during the same Mass with children typically in the third grade, or about age 9. Adults who have not been baptized may receive Confirmation after going through a time of formation and discernment called RCIA  (the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). Adults who have been baptized go through a different program, called Confirmation Formation for Adult Catholics.

For information about the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist for a child contact your local Parish Catechetical Leader. If you are an adult interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, contact your local parish or the Office of Adult Faith Formation.
